Sport qualification: ASA Level 2 coach
Primary coach: Junior Midland squad
Coaching experience: 20 years
As a teenager I used to teach and coach beginners at Oadby and Wigston Swimming Club and have been coaching on and off ever since. When my eldest child joined Grantham Swimming Club the club in 2008 , I started coaching shortly after.
As a child and teenager I swam for Wigston Swimming Club, managing to make the team a few times for Leicestershire. At university I continued swimming, but also took up water polo and gained my colours playing for the England University Team. Since then I have moved around the county but always managed to join a swimming club with a masters section. I now swim a couple of times a week with Grantham Masters and have represented Lincolnshire a number of times.
A sport hero and why:
David Wilkie because I met him as a child and he was the first Olympic Gold medallist to realise that wearing a hat and goggles helped you swim faster!
