I qualified as a fitness instructor & Sports therapist in 1998 and worked in these industries until joining the police in December 2000. Throughout my police career I continued to practice in my fitness instructing – when in 2013 I became a PTI for the police. Responsible for training all officers in officer safety (Self-defense, safe restraint techniques, first Aid, fitness) In 2014 I completed my additional Level 3 in personal training, exercise referral, Metafit & Insanity. I utilise these skills on a daily basis. Approx 8 months ago I began to teach Land training to the Midland & National squad most Sundays.
I have always had a passion for sport & fitness. My greatest achievements have been with Athletics, netball & rugby (County level).
Since becoming a parent & managing my work/life balance many sporting hobbies and frequency of exercising has reduced, however this is now on the increase again.
I teach & or partake in many forms of exercises (circuits, HIIT training, crossfit, yoga etc.) and have recently taken up cycling again – possibly to compete in some more sprint triathlons?!
A sport Hero & why:
Jessica Ennis-Hill - I believe Jessica categorically remains Britain's most influential sportswoman. Jessica overcame extraordinary levels of pressure to win Olympic gold in amazing style with such passion, grit, determination & dedication. Jessica has since become a mother and currently regaining her phenomenal fitness. A true inspiration.
Random interesting fact about myself:
I currently hold the female record within my police force on our ‘push/pull’ strength/power machine!
