Sport qualification: Rita gained the equivalent of a level 2 coach as well as fitness instructor qualifications which she also taught for many years.
Primary coach of which squad: Rita currently coaches the Green squad on a Thursday evening inspiring them with her enthusiasm and energy.
Coaching experience: In 1960 Rita joined GSC when it was based at the outdoor pool in Dysart Park and has been involved in teaching and coaching ever since.
Sport experience: Rita has been involved in swimming all her life and started off as a springboard and high board diver competing throughout Lincolnshire.
Rita was girls captain for Grantham and swam many times for the County. Rita still trains and competes with the Masters, regularly swimming for the county as well as still being heavily involved with the Life Saving Club.
A sport hero and why: Rita’s sporting hero is Daley Thompson who won Olympic goal in the Decathlon in 1980 and 1984 breaking numerous world records. Rita believes that any decathlete has to be admired for their all round skill and commitment to all 10 disciplines involved.
Tell us one random interesting fact about yourself: Rita deservedly won Lincolnshire’s Veteran Sports Woman of the Year in 2015.
