It is time to say goodbye to 3 swimmers who were true ambassadors of Grantham Swimming Club
Sophie Culpin, ASA Nationals medallist, British Championship finalist, multi county and club records holder will be leaving Grantham after the summer break to start university. Sophie served as club captain and was a true role model for our younger swimmers. Sophie also is a recipient of many club awards including the President Shield. Her consistency was magnificent and resulted in constant progression in her butterfly events. Her maturity and leadership as a swimmer and as a coach in the club was well-appreciated.
Hannah Berwick bows out of Grantham Swimming Club after serving her role as Club Captain 2016/2017 and after being shortlisted for the Lincolnshire Sport Award - Young Sports Volunteer of the Year. Hannah was also a recipient of many club awards and the Grantham Swimming Club President Shield. Although Hannah was not swimming at National level she was a true role model in and out the pool. She coached younger swimmers and her input in developing our youngsters was outstanding.
Aidan Wright, ASA Nationals qualifier, multi county and club records holder is also leaving the club to begin his education at university. Aidan joined the club when he was 13 and despite that, at that time, he was not showing much talent, his determination and outstanding work ethic made him progress to the fastest squad in the club which resulted in him becoming one of the fastest distance swimmers in England. Aidan, for his outstanding work in the pool, received many club awards including the President Shield.
The club is proud to have such great ambassadors and we all wish you all the best in and out of the pool. It was a great journey.
