Lincolnshire Counties 2019 Results

Dear parents and swimmers,

The results from this year's County Championships were released at this week's Lincs ASA Committee Meeting, and we can now reveal the final scores. Whilst sadly we didn’t win this year, we still have much to celebrate as a club and many positives to take from the Championships - not least hosting the whole event at the Meres for the very first time.

Grantham came a very creditable second place this year - behind the winners Boston and well ahead of third placed Lincoln Vulcans.

The final points tally was as follows:

GSC SwimMark Accredited until September 2019!

Grantham Swimming Club gets its SwimMark accreditation for the next 12 months.

SwimMark is a club development tool managed by Swim England. It is a recognised quality mark throughout sport as it ensures the minimum standard is achieved within clubs enabling them to be effective, ethical and sustainable.

The opportunity to gain SwimMark essential accreditation is available to all clubs, across any aquatic discipline (including Masters), regardless of size and activity delivered. SwimMark is about creating the best possible swimming experience for all and raising the quality of aquatics provision across all areas.

SwimMark essential offers national recognition that clubs are providing a quality service for all members, which is recognised by Sport England. All clubs gaining SwimMark essential accreditation will automatically receive Clubmark status. Clubmark is widely recognised by potential funders, schools and other partners that can assist with club growth and development.

To achieve SwimMark essential accreditation, clubs need to submit information for 16 ‘elements’. This is now all done online via a portal (no more files with paperwork!). The elements are reviewed and approved by the Regional Development Officers and then by a regional and national panel. Accreditation lasts for two year, however a health check of 5 ‘essential’ elements will need to be completed in the interim year.

Clubs that are SwimMark accredited are able to use the SwimMark logo on publications and club marketing material.

Thank you to everyone involved in Grantham's submission for this year.

GSC Starts and Turns Evening

Many thanks to all the swimmers and parents who attended the Starts and Turn session on Saturday, 13th October and a huge thanks to Andy Daybell and the many coaches/officials/volunteers who helped to support the evening.

The session kicked off with a presentation from Andy highlighting the importance of being 'streamlined' plus valuable tips and guidance to help with starts, and then the pool work followed by having the diving blocks out to put the practice in.
