Callum Melville used the Grand Prix as the final test before the Scottish National Championships and he surely passed the test exceptionally well!
Although the swimmers did not get any more Midland times under their belt, they still showed great standards of swimming.
Connie Philips again showed some great talent and excellent racing skills. In 50 butterfly Connie smashed her old personal best time, just missing out on a club record, and moved up to the fourth place in the British ranking.
Connie Philips and Mia Ellis both travelled to the Leicester Age Group Meet to swim 400 free.
Molly was the only swimmer from Grantham who decided to swim in the British Championships in Edinburgh. Molly swam only one race and showed great ability to swim well under the considerable stress of the British Championship meet
After a very successful Counties we already have a record 26 swimmers who have qualified for the 2018 Midland Championships. This exceeds the target for this year by one swimmer.

We needed superb performances in the last day of the County Championships in our quest of defending the title of the Best Swimming Club in Lincolnshire. Still some of our top swimmers could not swim due to illness.
Alisha Tyers is a leading swimmer in the Senior+ squad. Last year Alisha just narrowly missed qualifying for Nationals. She is a dominant swimmer in the club championships
In the first event - 200 free - swimmers could demonstrate how much their fitness had improved since they swam it last time. Joshua Clarke improved by an astonishing 13 seconds – just outside the club record with the second fastest time achieved this year in our County.

Congratulations to all the medalists! After the second weekend of 2018 Counties swimmers won 41 gold medals, 45 silver and 45 bronze. The top three leading swimmers are Iona Colbert, Evie Turner and Molly Colbert.
Can Grantham do it again? Surely swimmers made a strong statement this weekend. We showed determination, motivation and ability to give everything, which is what was needed to build such a lead.
